Belgian designer Liesbet Bussche [www.liesbetbussche.com] is a visionary mental. Not only with a wild imagination, Liesbet saw things that we normally would look away in a total creative manner. This new project – Urban Jewellery: Suzy’s charms – is a reflection of the life of Suzy Solidor, a nightclub owner, singer, model, writer and actress. Suzy is an iconic figure in the Parisian nightlife in the 30s and 40s and the project clearly reflects her extraordinary life. She passed in 1983.
Concrete spheres become pearls for earrings. A house wears a name chain. A warning tape is woven of beads. A building pit gets its own sand-necklace. A traffic sign appears to be a button. Two houses in love wear broken hearts.
This is urban jewellery in the eyes of Liesbet.
Extraordinary it is!
